Our motto is to build a future where everyone can easily use IT hardware. In this fast-changing society, where the use of computers and keyboards is the norm, we are looking for solutions for people, for who easy use of a keyboard is not a given.

Motor impairment

When someone is suffering from motor impairment, typing on a keyboard can be stressful or sometimes impossible. Years ago, we were looking for a solution to help people with motor impairments, so they can use a keyboard without difficulties.

Keyguard

The Clevy Keyguard is a rigid plastic grid that is placed over the Clevy Keyboard to help prevent accidental keystrokes. Keyguards are often used by individuals who have motor impairments, such as tremors or spasms, that can cause them to inadvertently hit keys while typing.

The Clevy Keyguard has openings for each key, and the openings are slightly larger than the keys themselves to allow for some margin of error. The Keyguard creates a barrier between the user’s hands and the keys so that even if the user’s hands shake or spasm, they are less likely to hit the wrong key.

Clevy Keyboard with Clevy Keyguard. Special design assistive technology product.

Protects the keys

Our keyguard has 19 “feet” which are resting on the keyboard casing. This prevents the keyguard to bend while pressing it. The keyguard allows people to rest their hands on the keyboard. It has clips on both sides that are holding onto the keyboard. The keyguard has been matted and this prevents light reflection. Due to this, users can mainly focus on their input device.

Our keyguard can be useful for individuals who use alternative input devices, such as mouthsticks or head pointers, to interact with the keyboard. These input devices can be difficult to control with precision, and a keyguard can help to reduce the frustration of constantly correcting typing errors.

Disabilities

The Clevy Keyguard is a very useful add-on to the Clevy Keyboard for typists with disabilities such as:

  • Spinal cord injury
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Spina bifida
  • ALS
  • Arthritis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Essential tremor
  • Shaking hands

We call the overlay for Clevy keyboard or Clevy contrast the Clevy Keyguard. With this Clevy Keyguard typing on a keyboard is made easier. So, anyone can use a keyboard without stress.
