Clevy in the Classroom: Den Duin Basisschool

At Clevy, we love hearing directly from the people who use our products every day. That’s why meeting with schools and taking the time to listen to teachers and students is such an important part of what we do.

We recently had the pleasure to talk with Anne-Margriet Surewaard, Grade 5 Teacher and i-Coach at Den Duin Basisschool in Made. Through Anne-Margriet, we learned how Clevy Hearsafe fits in their daily classes and how children from different school years experience them. We were curious to find out what makes them such a practical addition to the classroom.

1. How do you use Clevy Hearsafe in the classroom?

"We use the headphones for all kinds of activities where sound is involved. In both the lower and upper grades, the children use them when working with teaching methods such as 'Veilig Leren Lezen' and 'Wereld in Getallen', for example when completing additional exercises."

"In the upper grades, they also use the headphones when working with programs such as Digit Po, where the children develop their digital skills."

2. How do the children react when they first use the headphones?

"The children really like the headphones. They think they look nice, and they are also attracted to the cases they come in. The cases encourage them to put the headphones away neatly and make sure the cable is stored properly in the little mesh pocket."

"The colors of the headphones are also appealing to the children."

3. How do the children experience the size and comfort?

"The size is perfect for the children's heads, both for the younger and older children. They are very comfortable because of the soft ear cushions, and I have never heard the children complain about them."

4. Are the headphones sturdy enough for daily classroom use?

"Definitely. The headphones are very sturdy and hardly ever break."

"The only thing that occasionally breaks is the cable, mainly with the children in Grade 3. Perhaps this is because they tend to fiddle with the cables a little more with their small fingers. In the upper grades, we almost never have any problems with the cables. "

5. How do you find the volume limiter?

The volume limiter is ideal. It gives us peace of mind because we know that the headphones won't expose the children to unsafe sound levels.

6. Do you use the ID tags and storage cases?

We don't use the name tags. The headphones used by Grade 3 stay in Grade 3, so instead we put small stickers on them. This means we can remove the stickers again at the end of the school year.

We do always use the storage cases. They are very convenient because the headphones can be stored safely and neatly.

7. What do you like most about the headphones, and is there anything that could be improved?

Honestly, I wouldn't know of any improvements. My colleagues and I all find the headphones very pleasant and easy to work with.

In the upper grades, we don't have enough Clevy headphones for every child, so we have a number per class and the children also use their own headphones. This is mainly because of the cost, as the school budget is limited.

Personally, I would really like to see all the children using Clevy headphones.

A solution that works

A big thank you to Anne-Margriet Surewaard and the Den Duin Basisschool for taking the time to share their experience with us. It is always a pleasure to hear how our products are being used in the classroom, and we truly appreciate the trust they place in Clevy.
